As was announced last week, Google has acquired my friends at Feedburner. I'll join the chorus of other blogging shareholders in congratulations to Dick, Eric, Steve, Matt, Brent and all the gang. But instead of just congratulations on a fine finish, I want to laud a new beginning of the rise of the vaunted Feedburner flame-o-con. What you guys built is now (pretty much) guaranteed of becoming a permanent part of the Internet ecosystem -- way cool!
That's the jazz for true entrepreneurs...to build something that lasts. But the money ain't bad either! I'll sure take my sweeeeet 78X gain on the common shares that I owned. But I know these guys and this is just one more stop, and it won't be the last stop, on their journey of creating and launching cool, innovative stuff into the world.
Back in February 2004 Dick and I met for one of our semi-regular lunches to trade info on what was going on in startup-land and he told me all about the new world of RSS and content syndication and his plans for Burning Door Syndication Services, Inc. (later known as Feedburner). I told him I was interested in participating / assisting in any way I could and he, Eric, Steve and Matt were gracious enough to invite me to be on their advisory board. Its been a wild ride the last 3 years!
I got one of the first flame-o-con stickers and proudly stuck it on my carrybag, where it still resides. Today I proudly fly my colors as part of Feedburner Nation and salute those who now carry that flag into battle as part of the Big G team.

Great Post :-)
